Communications

The user must specify which serial ports on the PC are connected to the HSM Auxiliary and Console ports. The choice of serial ports is limited to COM1 and COM2. When a serial port is selected it can be configured to a specific baud rate (See Figure 2 below).

Proceed as follows to set up the communications configuration:

1.        Use the drop-down list to select the COM port connected to the HSM’s Auxiliary port.

2.        Click on the Configure button for the Auxiliary port. The Auxiliary Configuration window opens:

3.        Use the drop-down lists to set the configuration to the required settings. These must be the same as the settings used for the port on the HSM. Recommended values are:

·       Baud Rate:      38400

·       Data Bits:       8

·       Parity:            None

·       Stop Bits:       1

·       Flow Control: None

4.        Click OK to exit the window.

5.        Repeat steps 1 to 4 for the Console port settings.

6.        Enter the IP address of the HSM Ethernet Management port in the Management box.
